A Day in the Rocky Mountain National Park
The Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place for those wanting to get away. All of the images in this blog were taken while barely going six miles into the park itself and never more than 200 yards from Trail Ridge Road. Come along as I take you through a Day In The Rocky Mountain National Park.
The Evening:
Just after entering, and actually even before entering, you are instantly in an area that is covered in Elk in the evenings. The valleys are home to quite a bit of wildlife. If you've got youngster's and want to ensure that they get to see a bunch of wild animals then this is the spot to be, especially in the evening! Keep your eyes open!
Try and find yourself a nice spot to watch a beautiful sunset. I doubt you'll be disappointed!
As the sun sinks below the mountains over in the Never Summer Wilderness, the wildlife will come out of the tree lines in bunches.
You won't "necessarily" need a DSLR to take decent images from the roadside, but it may help. Remember this, the difference between a decent shot and a great shot is most often in the eye of the photographer and not in the camera. Check out what gear I use here on my Gear Page.
The Night:
Do yourself a favor and stay up for some night photography or at least star gazing!
A night out under the stars, while in the Rocky Mountain National Park, can be a magical experience. The image above was taken in October. It is recommended to do night photography in the colder, clearer, nights.
These star trail images are always fun to take tho you never quite know what you've got until you get home.
The Morning:
As soon as it is light enough for you to see, you can rest assured knowing that the moose are already out and about.
When morning comes, be on the lookout for Moose! My last visit, I saw nine moose, mostly in pairs, along the banks of the Colorado River along Trail Ridge Road.
Each trip I make to the Rocky Mountain National Park, no matter my intentions, is so different than any other trip and none are boring. I'm going back in July for a Five Day Hike. Looking forward to it!
If you get to go to the RMNP, enjoy!
