Lighting Matters!

Keep Lighting In Mind…

Your print was prepared under certain assumptions. One of these assumptions deals with space and the other deals with lighting.

Space - Your print is begging to be the center of attention on your wall and would be happiest if it were the centerpiece on the wall with decent clearance all around. In general, your print will look best centered around 5 to 5.5 feet above the floor.

Lighting - Your print was printed under the assumption that it would be hung in a well-lit area. This could mean the area is well-lit via ambient lighting or that there is lighting specifically trained onto the area where your print will hang. Here are some things to keep in mind…

  • Darker prints generally require more lighting than lighter prints.

  • Artwork generally looks good when it is displayed on a wall with a Lux of around 100. Lux is a measure of the intensity of the illumination on a surface. (Have a smartphone? You can measure your Lux value with free apps such as these for Android or iPhone.)

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the print. Indirect sunlight is fine.

  • Bulb recommendation: Personally, I recommend you select an LED bulb with a color temperature between 2700-4000K (2700K-3000K is preferred for bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms, and 3000K-4000K is preferred for kitchens, offices, and workspaces)

ENJOY!
